Peppermint (Mentha piperita) is an aromatic perennial herbaceous shrub which belongs in the family Lamiaceae. It is indigenous to Europe and the Middle East, but is now widely spread and the mint scented leaves that are rich in essential oil are cultivated in many regions of the world.
Peppermint is a sterile hybrid which is a cross between Watermint (Mentha aquatica) and Spearmint (Mentha spicata). Being a sterile hybrid the plant cannot be grown from seed and can only be propagated from rootstocks, cuttings and runners.
Peppermint contains vitamins A, C and folate plus minerals like Calcium, Iron, Manganese and Magnesium, all of which contribute to a multitude of health benefits including antibacterial, antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties which can help with a variety of things including, assisting to fight clogged up sinuses due to infections and allergies.
Peppermint can also act as a muscle relaxant and pain reliever. It can help diminish certain types of headaches, increases blood flow and can provide a cooling sensation, which can help ease pain.

Take care not to touch the inside of the neck of bottle or lid against anything or return decanted herbal extracts.
